History and Accreditation
Founded in 1865, Ottawa University has evolved from a single building to a comprehensive institution, now educating over 4,000 students. It operates two residential campuses in Ottawa, Kansas, and Surprise, Arizona, along with additional campuses for adult and graduate studies in Kansas City, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and online platforms.
Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1914, Ottawa University's Business School is recognized by the ACBSP, while its Nursing program holds accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The university also maintains approval from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Kansas State Department of Education. Ottawa University also has campuses in Arizona and Wisconsin, providing convenient options for those working in the central states and the west coast. The university holds both national and regional accreditation, ensuring that USCIS typically does not question the school's qualifications during H1B application reviews. In addition, as a non-profit university, obtaining a degree from Ottawa University qualifies graduates to participate in the Master's Cap H1B lottery.
