Academic Policy

  • University of the Potomac (UOTP) offers 7 enrollment windows per year.

  • Master's programs require the completion of 30 credits. Each semester, students are required to complete at least two 3-credit courses plus a 1-credit CPT course.

  • The academic year is divided into 3 semesters (Fall, Spring, and Summber), and each semester consists of 2 terms. In the first term of each semester, you need to take a on-site session of 24 hours (held during a weekend). In the second term, you can take all classes online (each class is 3 hours).

  • Students can still use CPT during breaks; there will be no gap between CPT authorization.

CPT Policy

  • CPT Work Hours: up to 40 hours per week

    • CPT agreement (including job description and employment start date)

    • CPT application form

 

  • CPT Start Date: Tennessee Wesleyan University allows students to start CPT one month before program start dates.

Onsite Policy

  • Hybrid Format: most classes can be completed online; besides online classes, students are required to attend one on-site session each semester. Onsite classes are held in Knoxville, TN over a weekend (Friday 1 PM - 7 PM; Saturday 8 AM - 6 PM; Sunday 8 AM - 1 PM).

  • Mandatory Onsite Class for International Students: Students are allowed to make up only one residency session during their academic program. Missing a second session will result in dismissal from the University. A missed session requires attendance at a make-up session and payment of a $300 fee, along with providing an explanation from the program department. Make-up sessions must be completed before the end of the term.

Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)

Tennessee Wesleyan University's hybrid-format Executive MBA program is designed for working professionals and international students. The program integrates professional experience with real-world applications, making CPT a key component. This hybrid MBA model suits busy professionals by combining face-to-face interactions with online coursework. Students need to complete 10 courses (30 credits), including residency courses (on-site) and online concentration courses.

TWU's Executive MSPM program offers hybrid course days, catering to international graduate students studying in the U.S. This model is ideal for working professionals and business executives who need a flexible schedule. To graduate, students need to complete 10 courses (30 credits).

Master of Science in Business Analytics (STEM)

TWU's MS Business Analytics program provides students with essential analytic skills such as formatting data for analysis, selecting appropriate algorithms, processing the data, creating action plans based on the analysis, and presenting the results in an easy-to-understand format. By incorporating knowledge from a variety of fields, including statistics, information technology, business, mathematics, information science, information visualization, data integration, and communication, this program provides a solid foundation for students to develop their careers in business analytics. 

To graduate, students need to complete 10 courses, including concentration courses.

Graduate Application Requirements:

  • Must have a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in other countries, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5

  • Financial Statement: $25,000 (past three months)

  • International students must meet the language proficiency requirement:

    • TOEFL (iBT): graduate 79;
    • IELTS: graduate 5.5;
    • Duolingo: graduate 95;
    • Proof of successful completion of approved ESL English Language program or composition credit with a passing grade;
    • This requirement can be waived for students who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited school in the US.

     

    *If your bachelor’s or master's degree is obtained from an institution outside the U.S., your official transcript must be by ab evaluation institution such as World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), International Education Research Foundation (IERF), and Educational Perspectives (EP).
